KRANE Announces National Headlining Tour

One of the biggest story-lines last year in the trap and bass
music world was how KRANE was
finally able to really break out. If you’re familiar with that
space at all you’ll know that KRANE has been putting out good
music for sometime now but last year was the year that he was
finally able to hit that next level thanks to collaborations
with heavy-hitters Bauuer, Jai Wolf, Vince Staples, and
more.

All that success has translated into a national head-lining
tour across America. KRANE’s Fallout Tour 2018
starts next week on Wednesday the 17th in Seattle and ends at
Rough Trade in Brooklyn, New York on April 7th. All in all the
tour will run for 14 total shows and features special
guest Slumberjack and support
from MYRNE and Alexander
Lewis
across various dates.

Breaking Down The EDM On Coachella’s 2018 Lineup

Coachella just dropped its lineup for 2018 and
there is a phenomenal mix of big and little names, specifics be
damned. But let’s take a closer look at the EDM to be seen each
weekend, shall we?

As the Sahara tent has grown over the years, it has attracted
bigger and bigger names, often spilling far outside the
confines of the stage and forcing promoter Goldenvoice to make
it considerably bigger than it was even 5-7 years ago. In doing
so, many EDM artists have actually outgrown the Sahara and have
moved on to Outside or Main stage – some also make appearances
at Gobi and Mojave. And then of course there’s still the entire
Yuma tent to take into consideration, not to mention the
Heineken House and Do Lab lineups which are still to be
announced.

For now, we have a good idea of who’s playing, so let’s dig in.

Friday

Kygo | Soulwax | Jean-Michel Jarre | Deorro | Maceo
Plex | Jamiroquai
Alan Walker |
Alison Wonderland | Detroit
Love | REZZ | Black Coffee | Justin Martin
TroyBoi |
Cash Cash | Whethan | Elohim |
Slow Magic

Saturday

Chromeo | Louis The Child | Snakehips | The Black
Madonna | Ekali | Yaeji | Party Favor

Jason Bentley | Busy P | AC Slater | Jackmaster |
KITTENS

Sunday

Odesza | Illenium | Jamie Jones | San Holo | Petit
Biscuit | Chris Liebing | Barclay Crenshaw

Giraffage | Joseph Capriati | Hannah Wants |
Kölsch

Overall, it barely seems like EDM will be able to fill both the
Sahara and Yuma tents, let alone other stages. Kygo will no
doubt play the main stage this year, with Odesza taking the
Outside stage, and many of the house/techno artists will be
playing Yuma. The remaining artists will have to share Sahara
with one of the most hip-hop heavy lineups we’ve seen yet.

That being said, we’re proud to say that all three of our
Breakout Artists of 2017
made it on the lineup.

But possibly the biggest surprise? The lack of The Chainsmokers
on the lineup. Not that people are complaining.

If you normally go to Coachella for just the EDM, this might be
the year to spend your money on Ultra or EDC instead.

Breaking Down The EDM On Coachella’s 2018 Lineup

Eminem, Beyoncé and The Weeknd Reportedly Headlining Coachella 2018

We are just a few weeks out from the Coachella
lineup announcement, but the rumor season so far has been
pretty quiet. We reported
that Beyoncé, The Weeknd
and either/or Arctic Monkeys and/or
The Chainsmokers would headline the festival
next year. But, Consequence of Sound
has reported
that Eminem, Beyoncé and
The Weeknd will headline next year.

Beyoncé and The Weeknd match up with our sources, but Eminem
stands out as a surprising headliner. However, Consequence
of Sound
has a perfect record when it comes to leaking
Coachella headliners so far, so we’re willing to take the
prediction with a grain of salt. Eminem also just released his
new album Revival this month and has yet to play the
festival. He did appear as a guest during the infamous
Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg
headlining set in 2012, so the relationship is there. One
notable fact about these headliners is that there is no rock
headliner. Instead, each headliner represents shades of
hip-hop, R&B and pop. It would mark a big diversion for
Coachella’s trend of headliner bookings thus far, but makes
sense given the current landscape of music.

Coachella’s lineup will release in early January, so keep your
eyes peeled as we report on the full lineup reveal.

Is Ultra Miami On The Verge Of 20th Anniversary Lineup Announce?

The hype is too real for Ultra Music
Festival
’s 20th year anniversary in Miami — and it’s
about that time to let the speculation begin!

One user on r/UMF is calling it right
now. Phase 1 will be released December 13th around noon. The
reasoning? That marks 100 days until Ultra Miami and “they’re
extra like that.” It’s hard to argue that Ultra would want to
keep it 100 with the announce.

Ultra Music Festival recently shared a cryptic tweet with 16
emojis, 16 weeks before the festival, giving fans reason to
believe a stage announcement is also coming soon.

Anyone trying to bet against u/BloodNotFunny? Also, make sure
to let us know your speculated headliners before the official
lineup announcement drops!

EDC Las Vegas Reveals Details For Camping At 2018 Festival

One of the biggest mysteries surrounding next year’s
Electric Daisy Carnival was undoubtedly how
camping would be handled. I say “was” because today the details
have just been revealed, and it’s not really like any other
camping festival out there right now.

First and foremost, there is no natural grass at the Las Vegas
Speedway. After all, it is a desert. So driving up with just
your tent and some stakes isn’t really an option – camping at
EDC will remain a sort of VIP experience even at the most basic
level, where campers can either drive in their own RVs or stay
in some pre-furnished “pods” that have been set up by
Insomniac.

Still, you can expect the same kind of campground experiences
you would get at Middlelands, Electric Forest, or Beyond
Wonderland… for a premium.

“Every year I challenge myself to find ways that we can enhance
the EDC experience,” said
Pasquale Rotella, Founder and CEO of Insomniac. “One of my
dreams has always been to create an immersive camping element
to the festival, and I’m proud to announce that today, that
idea becomes a reality with Camp EDC. We’re building out an expansive campground
complete with air-conditioned ShiftPod tents and a
drive-your-own RV option, in addition to a full center camp
area called The Mesa that features tons of amenities and
activities like daytime pool parties, yoga, group exercise
classes, a curated speaker series, 24-hour food and beverage
options, go-kart racing and plenty of art. There are so many
things our Headliners can explore in Camp EDC, but the most exciting part is that people will
be able to connect with one another in a completely new way.”

As we mentioned before, EDC Vegas won’t be a “bring your own
tent” kind of camping experience. Instead, all of the tent
camping options are within ShiftPod2 structures; these
are fully enclosed, lockable, and dust-controlled, with
artificial grass flooring, air conditioning, interior lighting,
and 4-port USB strips. This option begins at $1,199 per group
of up to four people, and includes one vehicle pass.

The inaugural Camp EDC program will introduce three
options:

  • Moonglow Camping ($1,199 per group, includes all
    taxes and fees):
    One vehicle pass plus
accommodations for up to four people. Bedding is not
    included.
  • Desert Rose Premiere Camping ($1,499 per group,
    includes all taxes and fees):
     Accommodations
for up to two people. Includes one vehicle pass, one deluxe
queen bed or two single beds with linens and pillows, premier
location closest to the festival entrance, and exclusive
access to dedicated Desert Rose Camping showers and A/C
    restrooms.
  • Bring-Your-Own RV ($329 per RV, includes all taxes
    and fees):
     Accommodations for up to eight
people. RV campers will receive a 15-foot x 50-foot parking
space, one vehicle pass, access to tent camping bathrooms and
showers, and all Mesa amenities. Water and power can be
purchased separately. All RVs must have a working air
conditioner powered by an on-board generator.

Extra add-ons will be available for purchase on
the EDC Las Vegas Camping website.

The Mesa will be available to all campers, and will serve as a
sort of home base to congregate before or after the festival,
or when you just need to head back to camp for a breather.

Featured amenities include:

  • Thursday night
kick-off party in the campgrounds featuring special guest DJ
sets on the Parliament Art Car
  • Go-kart racing
  • Expansive Mesa pool complete with palm trees and walk-up
    bars
  • Glitter and jewel makeovers
  • Hair cuts, beard trims, and styling at the Barber Shop,
    open daily
  • Airbrush body art
  • Traditional yoga, acrobatic yoga, meditation, and Reiki
    cleansing
  • Sound healing
  • Rave aerobics and hula hoop classes
  • Live model art
  • Field day games like foot races, tug-o-war, and scavenger
    hunts
  • Speaker series and comedic character performances
  • Women’s wellness workshops
  • Shaded spaces and misting stations with artificial grass
  • A variety of food truck options serving breakfast, lunch,
    dinner and snacks
  • Beverage stands featuring alcoholic and non-alcoholic
    drinks
  • 24-hour filtered water, medical, security and Ground
    Control services
  • A general store, an information booth and a lost &
    found
  • Free charging stations
  • A shuttle service to nearby grocery stores (at extra cost)
  • Pedicab service to and from the festival (at extra cost)

Camp EDC passes will be
available to festival pass holders first, on Wednesday, November 15, at 12 PM PT,
followed by the general on sale, Thursday, November 16 at 12 PM
PT, here.

Excision Thanks Headbangers As Lost Lands Boasts “Zero Drug Related Medical Transports”

Excision‘s first music festival, featuring
him, the Paradox stage and a bass heavy lineup, was one for the
books…

The DJ/producer and now festival curator took to his socials today to express his
feelings on the sold out, inaugural Lost
Lands
. Not only did this year go off without a hitch,
apart from a minor volcanic eruption, the
bass-filled prehistoric world will be back for a “bigger and
better” event in 2018.

The production, the bass artists, and the people were what made
the Lost Lands experience like no other. Excision said: “We’ve heard nothing
but positive feedback from all of the locals telling us how
polite and respectful all of you were.”

But most impressively, Excision boasted that no drug-related
medical attention was needed:  “Not only that, we all took
care of each other, as we had zero drug related medical
transports.”

“Our bass community is such a positive force, thank you all so
much for showing that to the people of Ohio.”

Excision’s 2018 Tour Featuring The Paradox Tour Flyer Revealed, 30+ Dates In 2018

Over the weekend, Excision was busy
putting on his debut festival Lost
Lands.
As festival attendees were headbanging to
hundreds of thousands of kilowatts of bass, some spotted flyers
that featured news about Excision’s upcoming North America
winter/spring tour – and were kind enough to share it with us
non-attendees.

Featuring over 30 dates across the United States,
Excision’s 2018 Tour Featuring The Paradox looks
to be one of the most anticipated winter touring events of the
year. Better yet, plenty of the major markets like Detroid,
Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, Denver and Washington
DC will all feature double-up shows!

Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more news about this tour
coming soon!

What The Festival Takes A Break In 2018, Expecting to Return for 2019 Event [DETAILS]

WTF! What The Festival is taking a break
next year… in order to “recenter and re-organize” and bring
attendees the best experience possible in the future.

Other than having hands down the best music festival name ever,
What The Festival has been known to offer a weekend full
of interactive art, 8 stages with electronic and live music,
movement classes, a speaker series, and more. The carefully
curated event hosted at Wolf Run Ranch in Oregon
has become one of the Pacific Northwest’s most transformational
experiences and will definitely be missed by its attendees this
upcoming festival season.

The 2017 lineup featured ZHU,
Gramatik, Cut Copy,
Rezz, Barclay Crenshaw
(Claude VonStroke), Big Wild,
Brasstracks, and so many more.

While 2018 will be an off year, What The Festival is expecting
to return in 2019 so get ready!

Did Halsey Throw Shade At The Chainsmokers During “Closer” Performance? [WATCH]

Hold up… Did Halsey throw some shade at
The Chainsmokers?

The songstress was just about to perform their mega-hit
collaborative song “Closer” when she got on the mic
during iHeartRadio‘s Daytime Village
show in Las Vegas over the weekend. As the beat of the track
started up, she cooly said, “I’m gonna skip to my part though,
ok? Because my part is the better part anyway.”

Playing the video back it seems Halsey meant it as a playful
jab aimed at the other vocalist Drew
Taggart
and The Chainsmokers in general, but of
course some people think it’s more than that. Considering
iHeartRadio’s music festival packed in the performers all
weekend long, we’re going with the logic that Halsey didn’t
have enough time in her set to let the full track play out.

Watch for yourself…

EMA 2017: Album of the Year – Bonobo – “Migration”

The Electronic Music Awards has come and gone
as it spent Thursday evening streaming its award show and
announcing its winners over Twitter. The EM Awards celebrated
this year’s bangers and ballads from productive musicians to
eccentric entertainment-industry leaders. Taking the top prize
of the evening, Bonobo was awarded “Album of
the Year” for work on their latest
album Migration.

As arguably the most important award of a ceremony, “Album of
the Year” is akin to “Picture of the Year” at the Academy
Awards where the album is chosen to represent the very best
collection of music that year. It may not have had the most
variation in an album or any festival-ready tunes to be blasted
over the main-stage, but Migration triumphs in taking
electronic music into weirder places than we thought we could
in 2017. From songs like “Grains” and “Kerala” that utilize
precise vocal chops to songs like “Bambro Koyo Ganda” and “No
Reason” that embed melancholy into the skeleton of house music,
Bonobo’s latest album is a worthy project to have “Album of the
Year” tacked onto.

In the running, Bonobo and his record
Migration were up against evenly-matched
contemporaries such as Woman by
Justice, 9 by Cashmere
Cat
, Epoch by Tycho, and
Humanz by the Gorillaz. Although the
debut album from the Chainsmokers
Memories…Do Not Open was a contending nominee, their
lackluster pop efforts look dainty and awkward next to an
otherwise elite selection of albums. Hopefully, the Electronic
Music Awards will not feel the urge to nominate an album for
AOTY just because it goes Platinum or because one of its
singles are charting on the Billboard charts by next year.

That said, the Electronic Music Awards still did well in
choosing the majority of their nominees set a positive tone
rewarding music that excites and challenges listeners.

Kaskade Attacked On Twitter By Fans Angry They Couldn’t Purchase Tickets To Redux Tour

Artists can’t do much when their fanbase is just so ravenous
for tickets to shows, as Kaskade’s fanbase is ravenous for his
new Redux tour. Or, at least, they were… before every stop sold
out instantly (except you Cincinnati).

Fans were so angry about this that they started verbally
attacking Kaskade himself on Twitter, but he was having none of
it. As much as an artist loves his or her fans, everyone has
their limit. Kaskade definitely laid down the law and dropped
some knowledge on those kids that were taking out their anger
on the very person who should be showing them a good time.

Kaskade Talks Redux 002 Before Headlining Show at Wet Republic This Weekend

Not every weekend is filled with things to do, but if you’re
looking for a quick getaway this Sunday, there’s no place we
can recommend more than Wet Republic
with Kaskade.

The American DJ and producer just dropped his
new Redux 002 EP a couple weeks ago, so you know
there’s going to be plenty of new music in his set, as well as
all the classics.

We were able to ask Kaskade some questions about the new EP
before his set this weekend, check that out below.

Get tickets to the show this Sunday at Wet
Republic here.

Congratulations on the new EP! How did the release come
together and how long have you been working on it?

The impetus for the release was when Spotify called up and
wanted me to be the face of them rebranding their electronic
playlist, mint. Their timing was great, as I had most of these
songs done over a year ago, and was rounding the corners on
some and making the edges more jagged on others. I figured the
end of the summer was a most excellent time to release REDUX EP
002.

You have two “double collabs” on the EP with Late Night Alumni
and LoKii – what inspired that? What was it like to work
with them and build them into the overarching vision of the EP?

Late Night Alumni of course goes way back with me, and we
are always in touch and interested in each others’ projects.
It’s inevitable that we’ll continue weaving our musical
paths.

One of the parts of my life that I count as the luckiest is
that I have the chance to collaborate with such a rich cache of
artists on an almost weekly basis. LoKii is someone who has
been on my radar in his different incarnations for a long time,
and when everything lined up for us to get to give a few sounds
a try, all those sounds came together in some Redux
stormers.

Are there any songs that were considered, but didn’t make the
cut?

Sure, there always are. I cut one song off and added
another within 48 hours of its release. Sometimes it’s fun to
keep my team on their toes. They love that.

What up and comer, regardless of genre, do you want to collab
with most?

There’s a lot of new talent out there right now and it
seems like more and more nobody wants to stick to their own
genre. I’m all about that. I wouldn’t mind working with some of
these new voices like Swae Lee or SZA.

What’s your #1 song of the summer?

The #1 song of every summer is Ice Cube, “It Was A Good
Day”.

Is there a Redux 002 tour coming soon? If so, what can we
expect?

Yes. You can expect hedonistic amounts of bass, not a lot
of lighting and very few drops. In 12 cities near you.

Beyoncé’s Coachella Performance May Include Destiny’s Child Reunion

Fans were dismayed when Beyoncé had to
pull out of headlining Coachella this year due to her
pregnancy, but we might end up getting a better show next year
after all if these rumors come to fruition. Dish Nation is reporting
that Coachella organizers have high hopes for
Destiny’s Child reunion at the 2018
event.

DN specifies that Coachella is not “pushing her into anything,”
she’s doing it because she wants to be recognized as the
greatest headlining performer in the festival’s history. And
based on the timing of it all, a reunion makes sense.

2018 marks the 20th anniversary of the group’s self-titled
debut album (back when there were four members &
no Michelle Williams), and the whisper among festival
execs are sure that they are planning on marking that milestone
with some performances.

Beyoncé famously reunited with the other members of the group
in 2013 when she played the Super Bowl XLVII Halftime show, so
it’s not like there isn’t any precedent for the reunion.

UPDATE: Porter Robinson’s ‘Worlds’ Shows Will Continue

UPDATE: Representatives for Porter Robinson
have reached out to let us know that the information in Mr
Pinto’s Instagram is 100% false. Porter Robinson’s “Worlds”
live show will continue for the foreseeable future.

Ultra Japan is going down this weekend with
KSHMR, Hardwell,
TiestoPendulum,
Tchami, The
Chainsmokers
AlessoSteve
Angello
, KygoKnife
Party
, and Porter Robinson and
more headlining the event.

While all the acts are worth noting, there’s one in
particular that may be making music history. As pointed out by
a fan on Reddit (r/porterrobinson) the host
of Ultra Japan might have just given away some vital info about
the producer’s set.

Damian Pinto posted the lineup on Instagram, and then commented the following:

“Don’t miss [Porter Robinson’s] last live set ‘Especially
Programmed’ for this special show at the ‘Live Stage’ this
year…”

By “last live set,” we’re thinking he means last live
Worlds set, which means the end of an era. It also
means anyone who hasn’t yet seen the epic show should book a
flight to Japan stat.
